2023 Competition Rules and Conditions

These Rules and Conditions are additional to the Rules for all NAPGC Competitions

 

Format

  1. A club team will comprise eight men playing as four pairs. All pairs to play 18 holes four-ball better ball stableford. Two pairs will play at home and two pairs will play away and the team score will be the aggregate of the home and away stableford points.

 

Entry and Draw

  1. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish.  Duly completed entry forms and fees to be returned as directed. Each club shall provide match contact details for their teams. On the day of matches team Captains will be responsible for confirming and agreeing handicaps and allowances.

 

  1. Each team will normally be placed in one of a four areas, with a maximum of 16 teams in each area.

 

  1. The area winners will meet in the national final at a neutral course in September/October. Green fees for the national final will be subsidised by the NAPGC.

 

Conditions of Play

  1. The minimum handicap index is 16.0 and maximum 28.0. At least four of the eight players must have a handicap index of at least 19.0. Teams should be selected to maintain this balance as far as is possible. However, if a player’s handicap is reduced after they have legitimately played off a higher handicap index in a previous round, they can continue to be eligible to play even if the balance is not met. If this does occur team arrangements should be agreed and approved by the Competition Organiser in advance of play. All players must play off their current handicap index (even if this means rule 4 is not complied with). Players may be paired together in any combination

 

  1. The individual playing handicap for this competition is 85% of course handicap. As this is a better ball competition, in the event of a team being unable to field a team of eight players at the start of a match, a single player may play on his own throughout a match or until his partner arrives.

 

  1. Team Captains of the day shall confirm their playing order at least 15 minutes prior to a match commencing. In knockout rounds and at the national final, the winning team shall be the one that has the greater number of stableford points on aggregate.

 

  1. All score cards must be properly prepared prior to the commencement of a match in all rounds. After each game score cards should be signed off and points agreed with team captains for recording on the team result sheet. At the national final, cards are to be returned as directed by the NAPGC competitions committee.

 

Winners Trophies and Prizes

  1. The winning team in each round and at the national final, shall be the one that by way of aggregate has the greater number of stableford points.

 

  1. At the national final the winning club will receive the Siemens Bowl. Players in the winning team and the runner up team will receive individual awards.
